Data retention & deletion
Effective October 22, 2026. Contact hello@budgetr.co for a verified deletion or account-closure request.
Budget and account records
Saved plans and account records are retained to provide your ongoing budget history until you remove them or request deletion. There is currently no automatic inactivity-based deletion schedule. Household members may already have saved their own printed copies, which Budgetr cannot recall.
Connected financial data
Connection tokens and the latest institution snapshot are stored while a connection is active. Disconnecting revokes the Plaid connection and removes that connection record from Budgetr's active database. Imported debts, saved budget snapshots, and archived spending transactions are separate records and are not automatically erased by disconnecting.
Requesting complete deletion
For complete account deletion, open Your account in the mobile app and choose Delete my account. Confirm with your password or an email code. Budgetr disconnects your banks and removes your login, active sessions, owned budgets, financial snapshots, and household access records from its active database. Members lose access to budgets you own. Budgets owned by others remain; your membership is removed. Deletion cannot be undone. If a bank cannot be disconnected, deletion stops and you can retry. Contact hello@budgetr.co for other data requests.
Provider records and backups
Deleted active records may remain temporarily in provider-managed backups and operational logs under those providers' retention settings. An exact purge date for every provider copy is not currently guaranteed. Information independently held by your bank or Plaid is governed by their policies. We do not treat disconnecting an account as proof that every historical copy has been deleted.
Policy maintenance
This policy describes the current service. Retention periods and deletion tooling will be updated here as they are implemented. Questions and requests go to hello@budgetr.co.
